North Indian tourist website hacked to protest hate campaign

The hackers claim that the attack is a “payback for insulting Keralites.”

Kochi: Some Kerala-based hackers on Monday hacked a North Indian tourist website in retaliation for the hate campaign launched by dog lovers against the government's stand to cull rabid stray dogs.

The hackers claim that the attack is a “payback for insulting Keralites.” The hackers called ‘Mallu Cyber Soldiers’ urged North Indians to stop spreading fake stories on the issue.

The site of Namaste India Tour and Travels was hacked in the morning and the owners of the site are yet to retrieve it.

The netizens in the state had launched a counter campaign against online posts of dog lovers urging the people to boycott Kerala and its tourism.

An online petition also is doing the rounds urging Facebook users to stop the hate campaign against Kerala. According to the plea, the only purpose of this propaganda is to instil hatred against Kerala and its people.

According to Roshan Thomas, a social media expert, the “state government has decided to use animal birth control measures in view of the recommendations made by animal rights activists and experts. Therefore questioning the intention of the government to provide security to its people is unfathomable. To control the menace of dog attacks, the government is forced to take steps to safeguard the interests of the people of Kerala.”

The petition is addressed to Animal Welfare Board of India Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. R.M. Kharb AVSM (Chairman, Animal Welfare Board of India).
