No change in NSS stance: Nair

July 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair has said that the organisation does not see any immediate need to change its avowed stance on various issues.

‘No compulsion’

“We do not find any special circumstances that compel us a rethink on our avowed policies,’’ Mr. Nair told The Hindu on Monday.

According to him, those who are activists of various political parties have been active members of the NSS. ‘‘And we find there is no reason for any conflict between the political activities of a member and his or her activities as a member of the NSS since their NSS identity is beyond the political identities of the individual members. That is why we follow the policy of equidistance from all parties,’’ he said.

To another question he said the NSS had not made any discussion with the BJP leadership regarding any realignment.
