Youth shot dead in Delhi Cantonment

A man shot dead a 20-year-old in the high-security Cantonment area late on Sunday night.

Victim Clive worked at the Army canteen and lived in the staff quarters at Chitral Lines with his father, a retired Air Force employee, and mother, a nurse at the Army Base Hospital.

The incident took place around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday, while Clive was returning home from a party. One of his friends Vivek had come to drop him home.

“Clive was walking home when a man got out of a parked car and opened fire. Clive was shot in the chest and the shooter got into the car and sped away,” said the police.

The speeding driver went on to ram the barricades put up around 100-metre from the spot. However, no one was injured as the suspects, believed to be three in number, drove away. Clive was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital by Vivek, but succumbed to injuries. A murder case has been registered at Delhi Cantonment police station.

The police said prima facie the murder appears to be a result of personal enmity.
