Bengaluru: Garbage pile in middle of road kills techie

The police arrived at the spot after a few passersby alerted them

BENGALURU: A techie, who was on a scooter, was run over by a BMTC bus after he fell on the road while trying to avoid a pile of garbage in the middle of a stretch near Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday morning.

The techie, Eshaan (25), who hailed from Mangaluru, was working in a reputed MNC. On Monday morning, he was on his way to work when he noticed the garbage pile near the stadium, under the Cubbon Park police station. He swerved right trying to avoid it, but the back wheel of his Honda Activa skidded and he fell on the road. The BMTC bus that was right behind ran over him, killing him on the spot.

The police arrived at the spot after a few passersby alerted them and shifted the body to Bowring Hospital for the postmortem.

In another accident, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run case after a speeding cab mowed him down on Outer Ring Road in Banaswadi traffic police limits on late on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran R. (29), a resident of Bhuvaneshwarinagar in Sultanpalya.

Kiran was returning home around 11.30 pm on Sunday when the taxi mowed him down on the Outer Ring Road opposite Bheema Jewellers and fled.

A few passersby, who saw him lying in a pool of blood, rushed him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The Banaswadi traffic police have registered a case.
