HUDA submits 11cr plan to light up Dwarka e-way
GURGAON: The Haryana Urban Development Authority has submitted a Rs 11-crore plan to light up the stretch connecting Dwarka to Kherki Daula on NH-8 by December this year.
The proposal came after Punjab and Haryana high court dismissed several petitions holding up construction of the expressway.
According to HUDA executive engineer (electrical) Arun Dhankar, an estimate to erect streetlights along the expressway was prepared about two years ago, but the project was shelved.

"The project was put on hold after the construction of the road was affected for several reasons, including litigations over land acquisition. Now that the legal hurdles are cleared, we have prepared an estimate to light up the stretch," he said.
Dhankar informed that the revised estimate is ready and will be sent to the HUDA headquarters in Panchkula for approval this week. "Since legal issues affecting construction are resolved, construction work will now be undertaken in full swing. The estimate for streetlights is also expected to be approved on a fast-track mode," he said.
"We hope to have them up and running by December. A total of 1,100 streetlights are to be installed on either side of the stretch between Dwaraka and Kherki Daula," he added.
The Dwarka expressway, or Northern Peripheral Road, is an 18km-long artery that will serve as an alternative link between Gurgaon and Delhi and is expected to ease traffic on the existing expressway.
