HC summons CS over Amanisha nullah
JAIPUR: Rajasthan High Court has summoned the chief secretary, principal secretary, PHED, commissioner Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), CMD, Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam and district collector over non-compliance of its orders on a PIL by P N Mendola on the restoration of the Draviyawati river ( Now Amanisha nullah).
The division bench of Chief Justice Sunil Ambwani and Justice V S Siradhana took a serious note of the non-compliance and asked these officials to be personally present in the court on August 3.

Ambwani had given various directions on March 26 and May 29 about restoration of the Draviyawati river but none of them have been complied with, according to the petitioners counsel P C Bhandari. The court on March 26 had directed that all the polluting industrial units operating at Sanganeer working without effluent treatment plants be closed down and water and power connections should be disconnected to these units.
The court had directed the authorities to prepare a restoration plan within three months in consultation with National Environmental Engineering Institute (NEERI), a government institute with domain knowledge for the restoration work instead of a private player but the JDA had approached a Tata agency for appointment as consultant.
The court had on May 29 also ordered to conduct remote sensing to identify the encroachment of the river bed. But none of them have been complied with.
Lawyer Bhandari argued if the government gives a Nelsons eye to a division bench order how things could be set right.
Court said if the authorities were not satisfied with the order of the court it should have approached the Supreme Court but they have done nothing of the sort. "You talk about Resurgent Rajasthan but not concerned about Jaipur? How this could be possible, the court asked. The court then asked them to personally present in the court to explain their position.
