The meeting on preparations for the district-level Hari Raya celebration in progress at Marudi District Office.
MARUDI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is expected to attend the district-level Hari Raya Aidilftri celebration this Friday at Baram Civic Centre.
According to Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Farmers Organisation) Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, Adenan is scheduled to arrive here at 10am.
“The chief minister will receive a very traditional welcome from members of the welcoming committee, who will later present him with souvenirs representing each ethnic group living in Baram,” he said after attending a meeting on preparations for the event at Marudi District’s Office yesterday.
Entri, who is also Marudi assemblyman, said the large gathering would involve various local associations including the security and development committees of surrounding villages, mosque committees and clubs.
“We expect to host 3,500 people at the civic centre. The event will run from 8am to 3pm. We welcome all to attend and take part in the festivities,” he said.
Entri acts as adviser to the event organising committee, headed by Marudi District Officer Mackos Sibong.
