Members of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union have accepted the Lansdowne Road public sector pay deal by the narrow margin of 52% to 48%.

Regional Secretary Paddy Kavanagh said the closeness of the ballot highlights the concerns members have over the need for the full restoration of pay, following years of austerity.

The TEEU has 1,000 members in the HSE, voluntary hospitals, local authorities, defence forces, education and semi-state sectors.
