Forecasters are calling for another scorcher in Denver on Monday with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service in Boulder is calling for a high near 96 degrees with mostly sunny skies. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.
“Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop across the area today with the best chance of thunderstorms being over the Eastern Plains,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “Brief, heavy rain and gusty outflow winds to 60 mph will be the main threats.”
Some of the Eastern Plains storms could include large hail and damaging winds, forecasters say.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, cooler and drier air is expected to spread east across Colorado, according to the bulletin.
“For the latter half of the week, temperatures will slowly rise back to seasonal normals with isolated late-day thunderstorms,” the bulletin said.
