Actor Prasanna can’t wait for August. That’s the month when a lot of things are set to take place in his life. By then, he’ll finish work on his first ‘village-based film’ directed by newcomer Nagarajan and co-starring Madras fame Kalaiyarasan. Then, he and wife Sneha will welcome their baby. During the paternity leave, Prasanna hopes to bond with their newest family member and also take off time to shortlist some interesting scripts lying with him.
“It’s a very exciting time and we can’t wait for August,” he smiles.
Nagarajan’s film is very special for Prasanna because it allows him to take on a rural avatar, something he’s never done in all these years. “I’ve been waiting for a village-based subject for years, but have always ended up playing an urban character. This will give me a different image,” he says.
The film is set in Madurai and also stars Dhansika as Kalaiyarasan’s love interest and Srushti Dange as Prasanna’s lady love. “Everything about the film is new — the milieu, the dialect… it’s been a great experience. The crew is great fun to work with and I have a new friend in Kalai.”
Prasanna says that it was the story’s simplicity that drew him to it. The actors have finished shooting about 80 per cent of the film and have just 10 days of work left. Once Prasanna completes his current assignments, he might team up again with Arun Vaidyanathan, who directed him in Achchamundu! Achchamundu! .
