MBABANE – The Swaziland Theatre club was set ablaze on a cold Friday evening with rhymes and punch lines, under Rooted Soulz’s ‘Shisa Gesi’ dubbed show.

The fire blazers for the night were The Conductor, Waterworlds, Qibho Intalektual, Velemseni, MoCats and Spirit Indigenous. The show attracted a mature multi-cultured crowd that braved the cold to sit under the fire that was set by the different acts. Poets; Dzeli, Beko the Storyteller, Gospel sensation Gabriel Dee and American Embassy’s Anita Beamon-Freeman all came to show their support.

Rooted Soulz Founder Themba Mavuso assisted in the selection of the order of the artist that would set the fire ablaze. He was the programme director and he did an awesome job. The crowd was anxious on what he would do next as he was full of surprises on the night. He attempted to play a guitar and dance, both attempts amused the crowd.

Mavuso explained that they decided to strategically place the show on the same week as the late King Sobhuza II’s birthday.
He said they believed that he was the ultimate flame that they chose to align themselves with. He further said they considered him as a hero. He urged the people that came through to find the aspect on which they were society champions and pursue that to bring change.

He also commended the artists for delivering according to the theme of the show.
What set the show apart was that there were artists who were interpreting the poetry on canvas to create beautiful pieces. The pieces were up for sale and the crowd was encouraged to see the artist if they were interested in buying.
