6 killed in Malwa rain fury, Pashupatinath temple submerged

Continuous rain in the past few days has flooded many low-lying areas in Indore, Dewas, Ratlam, Shajpaur, Ujjain and Dhar districts in Malwa region crippling normal life and paralyzing road transport as several highways were cut off from rest of the state.

INDORE: Continuous rain in the past few days has flooded many low-lying areas in Indore, Dewas, Ratlam, Shajpaur, Ujjain and Dhar districts in Malwa region crippling normal life and paralyzing road transport as several highways were cut off from rest of the state. Heavy rain also claimed six more lives on Sunday.
After Mahakal now it was turn of famous Pashupatinath temple to get submerged in water that over flowed from Shivna river in Mandsaur.
Fourteen of the 19 sluice-gates of Gandhi Sagar dam were open to release surplus water. A statue of lord Hanuman at the famous Hanuman temple in Sailana road, Mandsaur was submerged.
District administrations have issued high alerts in most part of the region and ordered closure of all schools on Monday in Ratlam and Mandsaur.
Two people travelling in a car were washed away along with their car on Sailana Road around eight-kilometer from Raltam in the morning. They were identified as Taj Mohammad and Ehshan Mohammad.
Ratlam district recorded more than 250 mm of rainfall in last 24 hours and many parts of Mumbai-Delhi railway track is submerged disrupting rail services.
In another incident in Ujjain two people were washed away while crossing a bridge in Jamalpura. Dead were identified as Balu Singh and Ritesh Singh.
In Dewas, two children Gautam, 4, and Murali, 7, died after slipping into a pit of under construction toilet. TI of Bagli police station G S Gore said two children were playing close to their house in Shyam Nagar area of Dewas district when Gautam slipped into the pit, his brother Murali tried to save him but he also slipped in and died.

Meanwhile, Shivna river in Mandsaur is overflowing due to heavy rainfall for last two days and on Saturday midnight water seeped into Pashupatinath temple. Earlier on July 21 water from Kshipra river submerged Mahakal temple.
Met department predicted heavy rainfall in next 48 hours in Ujjain and Indore divisions. According to met officials four new systems were formed over Arabian sea which would result in heavy rainfall in next few days. The department has also issued a rain alert for the region.
Many stop dams were damaged in Shajapur due to heavy rain and crops in hundreds of hectares of land in Ratlam and Dhar districts was destroyed.
