About 21.65 per cent of candidates who had registered to take Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group II examinations in the district did not turn up at the exam centres on Sunday.
The exam was conducted at 117 centres. Hall tickets had been distributed to 34,485 candidates and 27,017 took the exam. The examination was held to fill 1,241 vacancies in 18 categories of posts. Collector L. Subramanian carried out inspection at Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, Sourashtra men’s and women’s colleges and Devasthanam Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
Madurai South had the highest number of examination centres of 47, followed by Madurai North (43), Tirumangalam (11) and Melur and Usimalpatti (8 each).
