RTC earns Rs. 12 crore during Pushkaram

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), Krishna Region, earned a revenue of Rs. 7.5 crore during the 12-day Godavari Maha Pushkaram.

According to APSRTC Krishna Regional Manager P.V. Rama Rao, the corporation operated 5,100 services to Rajahmundry, Narsapuram and other ghats during the carnival.

“The RTC Krishna Region transported more than 5 lakh passengers to the bathing ghats for Godavari Maha Pushkarams,” Mr. Rao said, thanking staff who were on duty during the festival.

“The APSRTC Krishna Region also operated services to Bhadrachalam in Telangana State. There were services from Hyderabad to East and West Godavari districts,” the RM added.

Meanwhile, the corporation operated 4,208 services to Narsapuram, Goshpadam, Siddantam and a number of other ghats in West Godavari district.

“The RTC served more than 17 lakh passengers and earned Rs. 4.7 crore in revenue,” said RTC West Godavari Regional Manager S. Dhanunjaya Rao.

“We operated 24-hour Pushkaram special services from Eluru, Jangareddygudem, Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Narsapuram and other depots. The RTC also offered free transportation to devotees from bus terminals to bathing ghats in major temple towns in the region,” he added.

As many as nine crore pilgrims attended Godavari Maha Pushkarams-2015 in Andhra Pradesh and TS.
