Business tactics in Aadi

Come Aadi month, traders adopt attractive strategy to boost their business and, in the process, gain in the form of patronage from a larger number of new customers. A hotelier in Srirangam, M.V. Sathyendran, has set up a hoarding in front of the hotel offering a package of concessions – only available in the month of Aadi. For every dozen of dishes such as ‘dosa,’ the customer will get an extra dish free. Aadi is the only month when traders use their enterprising skills optimally and it has been working well, the trader says.

Not many will miss any opportunity to take photograph with popular leaders whenever they meet them. A few students, academicians and intellectuals, who had an opportunity to interact with the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at the airport when he visited Tiruchi on Thursday, took photograph with him. Some of them took selfie with him. Nidhi Sharma, first year MBA student of SASTRA, who clicked a selfie with him, has now become popular among students, friends and relatives.

A passenger bus shelter at Kodumbalur near Viralimalai has conveniently come as a residential shelter for an aged woman, Chinnammal of the area. She has been residing there for the past one decade and has accumulated her domestic households. According to local villagers, she has been allowed to accommodate the bus shelter on compassionate grounds. A historical temple of Moovarkovil is at a coupe of furlongs away from this bus shelter. Not many tourists visit the village to have a glimpse of the ancient monument currently under the maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India, according to villagers. “The official’s apathy in developing Kodumbalur into a tourism attraction centre has been one of the reasons for the poor utilisation of the infrastructure in this village,” say the villagers.
