Traffic constable, BMTC crew come to blows

July 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - Bengaluru:

Traffic movement near the busy Hebbal flyover was disrupted for sometime on Sunday afternoon after a police constable and a BMTC conductor got into a scuffle over wrong parking.

The bus, headed towards K.R. Puram, was found parked haphazardly under the flyover. Noticing that this was affecting smooth vehicular movement, traffic constable Pradeep attached to the Hebbal police station confronted the driver and conductor and asked them to move the vehicle.

Heated arguments ensued and things spiralled out of control when Pradeep and the conductor Narayana Swamy traded fisticuffs.

This resulted in traffic coming to a standstill for a while.

“The jam was cleared after a few other traffic police reached the spot. The BMTC conductor and the constable have filed cases against each other,” said a police officer attached to Amruthahalli police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.

A case has been registered against the conductor Narayan Swamy and another BMTC employee Sangamesh under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty), 504 (intentional insult with intention to provoke breach of peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 323 (Punishment for wrongfully causing hurt) of the IPC. Meanwhile, Pradeep has been booked under sections 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intention to provoke breach of peace) and 323 (Punishment for wrongfully causing hurt), the official said.
