Pattali Makkal Katchi leader and Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss has sought a chance to rule Tamil Nadu, promising to provide a transparent and corruption-free government.
Speaking at the PMK North Zone conference at Pallikonda near here on Sunday night, Dr.Anbumani said that if voted to power, the PMK would release a separate budget for agriculture which would be prepared by farmers' associations based on their needs and not by IAS officers.
He said the party, on coming to power, would sign the first order imposing prohibition. The loss of revenue on account of this would be made good by preventing smuggling of sand and other minerals. While the government earned Rs.26,000 crore from sale of liquor, it lost Rs.1,17,000 crore indirectly through loss of mandays and through medical expenses incurred on treatment of victims of liquor addiction, he said.
Dr. Anbumani said the PMK would ensure that the people got birth/death/community certificates without payment of bribe. This will be done through the introduction of the Right to Services Act.
The certificates will reach the homes of applicants within a week of application, he said.
The PMK leader said that the Samacheer Kalvi imparted in Tamil Nadu would be upgraded to the level of CBSE and the government schools upgraded to the level of Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Party founder S.Ramadoss said the PMK has a blueprint for development of Tamil Nadu and is prepared to debate with leaders of any party.
