: The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIO) will take up the issue of dress code that was enforced during the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday.
The CBSE had strictly enforced a new dress code, denying women from wearing full sleeve, head-cover and hijab or veil, evoking protests from Muslim and Christian groups across the country.
Supreme Court Chief Justice H.L. Dattu, while dismissing a plea against the CBSE by the SIO, had described it as a “small issue” and had said that faith would not disappear if a student removed the hijab during the examination.
“Justice Dattu’s is not the ultimate word. We are going to fight it legally.
“It’s an infringement on our religious freedom guaranteed under the Constitution,” said K.K. Mohammed Ashraf, SIO State committee member.
