10 industrial units in Kurnool get nod

The government has accorded clearance for 10 industries in Kurnool district, and foundation stones will be laid for them in August, Kurnool MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy said on Sunday.

Ambuja maize processing unit, Jain Irrigation Systems unit, DRDO missile testing centre, Birla cement plant, textile park, airport, IIIT, NFC unit and a solar power project were accorded financial clearance on July 3 and G.O.s were issued for them on July 21, Mr. Chakrapani Reddy said here.

The government also sanctioned Rs. 90 lakh for 38 tank works under the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project at Pathikonda, Dhone and Alur, the MLC said. Work on Krishnagiri reservoir has been completed, while that on Pandikona reservoir, which is expected to irrigate 18,000 acres, is in progress, he said, adding that water would be released from HNSS in December.

Meanwhile, 13 lift-irrigation schemes have been completed out of the 30 under the Guru Raghavendra project. Works are on at a brisk pace for the Mutchumarri scheme, he said.

Work on the Siddhapuram lift-irrigation scheme in Atmakur mandal to irrigate 24,000 acres in Alur and Nandikotkur will be completed by December, Mr. Reddy said.
