HISAR: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and governor Kaptan Singh Solanki had to face protest here on Sunday during convocation ceremony of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (CCSHAU) after a group of students raised slogans demanding government job.
As soon as the programme started at the university's auditorium, a group of students first raised slogans and then walked out of the event.
The protesters tossed their degree certificates in the air, shouting sarkari naukri do, ya degree wapas lo' (give government jobs or take back the degrees). They said that they would burn their degrees if the government failed to provide them jobs.
Talking to TOI, one of the protesters Aman Mor said, "We are BTech (agriculture) students. We have decided to boycott the convocation as there is no scope of jobs for us. We had earlier staged a sit-in and even went on hunger strike in the university demanding jobs, but the government did not listen to us. So we decided to protest during the convocation ceremony."
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who was present at the function, tried to pacify the protesters, saying that the BJP government in Haryana would provide jobs to all soon. Baba Ramdev and chief minister Manoharlal Khattar were conferred upon honorary doctorates during the ceremony.
