BICHOLIM: The Mayem panchayat gram sabha was adjourned for the third consecutive time during the last three months due to the absence of the former
panchayat secretary Amar Tirodkar on Sunday.
The gram sabha was chaired by sarpanch Neha Thanekar in the presence of deputy sarpanch Narendra Tari and nine panch members. But the absence of former panchayat secretary Amar Tirodkar proved to be a major setback as the gram sabha wished to probe allegations.
Reacting to the adjournment, Kashinath Mayekar, president of Mayem Bhuvimochan Nagrik Kruti Samiti and former sarpanch Subhash Kinalkar demanded that directorate of panchayats dissolve the panchayat body to facilitiate a thorough probe into the alleged fraudulent practices adopted by former sarpanch Veena Chodankar and former secretary
Suresh Fadte.
They demanded that an
administrator be appointed to oversee the affairs of the panchayat.
The gram sabha had been earlier adjourned on April 26 and June 7, 2015.
