A restricted tender, valued at $100 million, has been offered to several international companies.

Israel Railways has issued an international tender for a firm to manage its electrification project. "Globes" discovered that the state-owned rail company issued the restricted tender to several global firms, including Germany's Gauff, France's Systra, and the US' Bechtel.

Sources in the sector estimate the value of the tender at $100 million. Israel Railways will choose the winner by the end of the year. The winning firm will be tied down for the design and execution stage of the electrification contractor, who will be selected in a design-build tender, and practically until the project is completed.

The tender seeks to examine the experience of the bidding firms and their key personnel in managing and supervising infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on creating a railway electrification system on top of an active train network. The reason for the unusual tender: as opposed to many similar projects across the world, the electrification of Israel's railways will occur concurrently with their daily operations.

Additionally, the bidding firm is required to present its organizational structure for the managing company, including an initial managerial plan under the framework of the tender, with an emphasis on integration and interaction with foreign bodies as well as an adjustment to suit the needs of the electrification program.
