ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - Police in Roswell are searching for a gunman who opened fire during a children’s flag football game and wounded two people.

The shooting happened Saturday around 7:40 p.m. while kids were playing a game of flag football at Stiles Field in west Roswell.

Roswell police spokesman Todd Wildermuth says witnesses reported seeing a man in a black shirt running with a rifle and shooting at a couple in a vehicle.

Wildermuth says the man and woman were wounded but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are looking for a black GMC or Chevrolet pickup that may be “lifted.”

Investigators have not yet determined a possible motive for the shooting.
