Ooredoo reports 14.8 mln net profit in 1st half of 2015

KUWAIT, July 26 (KUNA) -- Mobile operator Ooredoo Kuwait reported a net profit of KD 14.8 million in the first half of 2015, a gain of 29.6 fils per share.
The first half of 2014 fiscal year saw a net profit of KD 37.9 million with a 75.7 fils per share, Ooredoo CEO Saud bin Nasser Al Thani told the press, Sunday.
The company was able to expand its client base during the first half of this year by 11.3 percent (24 million clients), compared to the 21.6 million subscribers in 2014.
Revenues in the first half of 2015 amounted to KD 359 million, a decrease of 5.4 percent compared to the same period of last year of KD 379 million.
Ooredoo in Kuwait, formerly known as Wataniya Telecom, is a member of Ooredoo Group. It was commercially launched in December 1999. The company provides mobile, broadband internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of customers and businesses.
Qatar's home-grown telecoms provider, Ooredoo (formerly Qtel) bought Ooredoo Kuwait in October 2012 by buying 39.5 percent of the Kuwaiti mobile company's shares. (end) skm.nfm
