Congress senior leader and former chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy has threated to launch an agitation if Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao goes ahead with his plans to shift the proposed 800 MW unit from Bhupalpalli in the district.
The Congress while in ruling has constructed two units 500 MW and 600 MW and planned for another 800 MW power unit at Bhupalpalli. However, the Chief Minister was trying to shift the third unit to another district which is against the interests of people here.
Mr. Ramana Reddy said the Chief Minister was discriminating against the Warangal district by neglecting it deliberately. The present government did not sanction a single rupee for ongoing Devadula Project and was trying to shelve the proposed Kanthanapalli Project. “People of Warangal gave 9 MLAs and two MPs to TRS Party in last elections, but the party is indifferent to development of this district,” he said.
The Congress leader pointed out that though Mr. KCR promised to make Bhupalpalli into a separate district, no action was taken so far.
Former MP Sircilla Rajaiah said that Mr KCR had declared that there would be no protesting tent at Indira Park under the TRS ruling. But the unrest among Government employees continues. “The MNREGS volunteers, IKP staff, Electricity staff and now municipal employees are forced to come onto streets. What happened to the promise of regularization of services of contract and outsourcing employees?” he sought to know.
The CM camped in Warangal and promised to ensure underground drainage, textile park, housing to the poor. Many months passed but nothing happened so far. “The Congress party demands payment of bills to Indiramma housing beneficiaries first. If government fails to do, we will launch an agitation,” Mr Rajaiah said.
