KANPUR: City girl Rati Tripathi, who was allegedly thrown out of a running train by robbers on November 19 near Bina in Madhya Pradesh, has returned to her hometown after getting treatment at a hospital in Bhopal. However, she is still bed-ridden with the right side of her body paralyzed and her family finding it difficult to fund for her treatment.

While trying to recollect the memories of the traumatic experience she had on the morning of November 19 when she was traveling to Ujjain from New Delhi in Malwa Express, Rati could only mumble: "I don't remember anything." Though her body may be bruised, her spirit is intact as she showed a resolute determination to fight on. Her parents said their daughter dislikes only one thing, i.e., giving up.
Belonging to a middle class family, the 30-year-old was the backbone of her kin, but now she is struggling to giver herself a normal life. She was allegedly pushed out of the running train by a group of men, who tried to rob her valuables. The girl sustained serious head and facial injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Bhopal.
Recalling the incident, her mother Mithya Tripathi said, "We had planned a trip to Ujjain at that time back in November. We reached there from Kanpur, while Rati boarded Malwa express from New Delhi to Ujjain. We all were supposed to meet at Ujjain station. But, when Rati didn't turn up on the pre-decided spot her brother Adhyatmik went to find her in the Malwa Express' S-7 coach. He didn't find her. We then enquired from the train passengers who told us that a group of men allegedly threw her out of the moving train following a dispute near Bina in MP. We rushed to Bina railway station where police told us that a woman was found on the tracks and has been referred to Bhopal for treatment."
"When we reached the private hospital in Bhopal, we found her in an unconscious state," said Rati's mother, claiming that her daughter got proper treatment only 8-10 hours after the accident.
After 53 days in coma, Rati finally woke up from the trauma of a harsh night one fine morning in January. But, she continued to suffer from several injuries. Till recently, she was being treated in a private hospital in Bhopal where MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arranged for her treatment cost.

However, after returning back to her hometown Kanpur, her future seems to be opaque. She is still bed-ridden with the right side of her body paralysed.
At the time when a father ties to save money for his daughter's wedding, Rait's father Mahendra Nath Tripathi is busy saving funds for providing best medical assistance to his beloved daughter. The family of five is reeling under financial crises owing to heavy debts of Rati's medical bills.
Mahendra, who runs a small mobile recharge shop, is the lone bread earner of the family of five. Rati's mother is a housewife and while her younger sister, who was a physical education teacher in Noida, has left her job to help Rati in her daily course.
Her only brother is perusing her graduation. "There is swelling on the left side of Rati's brain, because of which her right body is paralysed. Apart from this she has spine fracture and her speech centre is also affected. We are spending nearly Rs 30,000 on her medication every month. With my meager income, it has become really difficult for us to fulfill our basic needs even. We have cut short our budget, so that we could save money for Rati's medication and physiotherapy," said the worried father, while seeking help from the state government.
Mahendra said that they have submitted a claim of Rs 99 lakh with the Railways and settlement is awaited.
