Scores of Christians took out a procession here on Saturday on the eve of the flag hoisting ceremony as part of the annual feast festival of Our Lady of Snows Shrine Basilica. The 433rd edition of this festival is all set to begin with flag hoisting on Sunday. The worshippers carried offerings including ceremonial flags emblazoned with Cross, Mother Mary and Papal flag, saris, dhotis and clothes for the needy, notebooks and other things for poor students during the procession, which was led by Rev. Fr. Lerin De Rose, Rector and Parish Priest of the Basilica. The procession commenced near the Holy Cross Chapel and parishioners proceeded through Peter Street, Manal Street, Emperor Street, Beach road and reached the Basilica. The pastors at the altar received the offerings. The historic Shrine Basilica facing the sea on the Beach Road here was decked colourfully and illuminated. The 11-day feast festival would conclude on August 5.
