Solar energy ‘inspires’ schoolchildren

As many as 173 exhibits were displayed at the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) exhibition held in Karur on Friday.

A large number of students from more than 120 schools across the district displayed their scientific models at the district-level inter-school science exhibition which was organised at Cheran Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vennaimalai in Karur district .

Collector S. Jayandhi visited the exhibition and went around the models put by the students. Besides students of private schools, several exhibits displayed by government schools received the attention of visitors. Conservation of natural resources, tapping solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and environmental degradation were among the topics chosen by the participating students. A senior official of the Department of Education, Karur, said best exhibits would be displayed at the State-level exhibition in Chennai.
