JAIPUR/AJMER/KOTA/JODHPUR: Heavy rain on Saturday caused havoc at many places, including Jhalawar, Baran, Bundi, and Bhilwara, where many villages and hamlets are witnessing flood like situation. The Met office has further forecast for heavy to very heavy rain in the next 24 hours. The monsoon has taken two lives in Jodhpur as two children died after a wall collapsed.

According to police the two children of Raisar village of Jodhpur district, including a 6-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, the names of whom are not yet known, were sleeping in the hut on Saturday afternoon when a wall of the hut fell over them due to heavy rains. "Both succumbed to their injuries on the spot," said a police officer.
Aklera (Jhalwar) received a rainfall of 240 mm which was highest in the state. The village and its roads were inundated and it was almost disconnected with the other parts of the district and state. It was followed by Manohar Thana (Jhalawar) 220 mm, Ramganj Mandi (Kota) 150 mm, Chipabarod (Baran) 130 mm, Chabra (Baran) 110 mm, Asanwar (Jhalwar) 110 mm, Bakni (Jhalwar) 90 mm, Khanpur (Jhalwar) 80 mm, Pirwa (Jhalwar) 70 mm. Likewise, many places in Udaipur, Sikar, Kota, Rajsamand Banswara, Dungarpur and Udaipur received rain varying from 50 mm to 10 mm.
At Jhalawar district the roads are cut off from the neighbouring districts as the rivers and reservoirs were overflowing. At many hamlets and villages, people were taken to the safer places.
At Ajmer, the rain since wee hours on Saturday, affected normal life. A house at Rawan Ki Bagichi in Kaserganj collapsed, however nobody was hurt in the mishap. Water was seen overflowing at various roads in the city including Ramganj, Kaserganj, Dholabhata, Shastri Nagar and even at Vaishalli Nagar. Low-lying areas, including Jhalkari Nagar, Gujjar Dharti Nagara witnessed rampant waterlogging. Rains were also reported in the holy town of Pushkar, filling the holy pond.

Likewise, torrential rain in Kota city too affected normal life. In this season so far Kota has received rain of nearly 325 mm.
At Jhalawar the heavy rainfall has taken the toll on Kharif crop, sown during the first week of July. "There were reports of waterlogging at farms and villages, including Raipur, Nandpura, Suaas, Daaval, Kalitalai, Rampriya village.
However, the state capital is merely getting drizzles since the onset of monsoon on June, 24. "Jaipur has not yet received heavy rain except on July 3 when a rainfall of nearly 90 mm was received. Compared to 2014, the amount of rain is lesser as monsoon activity is yet to gain momentum," said a senior officer of the Met department.
In its forecast Jaipur Met office has forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall in southern and eastern parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
