Radhika lashes out at rampant pay disparity
After Hollywood biggies like Patricia Arquette and Meryl Streep standing up for equal pay for female actors in Hollywood early this year, it seems Radhika Apte too is on the way to do the same.
The 'Lai Bhaari' actress who swept the Hindi viewers off their feet with her performance in 'Badlapur' and 'Hunterrr' is not one to mince her words. Speaking about the gap in the pay cheques of male and female actors, Radhika told PTI, Female actors are paid less than their male counterparts.
This exists everywhere not just in our industry. But there is no reason for that to exist. I understand that a lot of films so far in the industry were working because of men and there were not enough female stars on whose name a film used to run. Now, you have films with female-centric parts which are making Rs 100 crore. I think things will start changing now. They should change. If women-centric films are making money, then women need to be paid better."

The 29 year old actress also informed that even if a male actor is doing a small role as compared to the female actor, the former gets better money. "I dont understand that. It does not make sense. It is frustrating, she said. About the kind of role she has chose, she says that she believes in experimenting and that most of the leading ladies of Bollywood are doing the same.
With her short film 'Ahalya' making waves online and films like 'Manjhi' and 'Kaun Kitne Paani Mein' lined up for release, Radhika sure is having a great year and by the looks of it, the girls is here to stay.
