Commissioner of Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) N. Srikanth completed his Ph.D. in economics from Andhra University and received the provisional certificate from Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju here on Friday.

Mr. Nagulapalli Srikanth, who was the GVMC Commissioner in the past, has done his thesis for Ph.D. on “Working of Rajiv Arogya Sri community health insurance scheme in Andhra Pradesh, a cross-sectional analysis” under the guidance of former professor of economics R. Sudarshana Rao and professor of mechanical engineering P. Venkata Subbaiah.

In his study, done in all the 23 districts of the unified Andhra Pradesh and after culling data from 6,000 answers to his questionnaire, the IAS officer concluded that there were occasional problems across different social groups, particularly Muslims, specific BC communities and Girijans. Arogya Sri was successful in Hyderabad area while coastal area, particularly Uttarandhra, was lagging behind.

Arogya Sri (now NTR Vaidya Seva) should be strengthened and more procedures allotted to the government hospitals, he suggested and felt that both the Central and the State governments must spend more on health.
