MCG picks 69 new spots for outdoor ads
GURGAON: The MCG has identified 69 new locations where outdoor advertisements can be put up without distracting motorists. The move comes after the high court noted that some of the 72 sites chosen last year, distracted motorists.
According to officials, MCG will earn Rs 76 lakh per month from these advertisements. "Last year, Punjab and Haryana high court put a stay on outdoor advertisement, as it felt some of them mostly near the main road were diverting attention of motorists.
We carried out a fresh survey and identified 69 new locations, which we feel won't hinder traffic flow," said an official. TNN
The MCG is also looking at forming a policy on wall wrap advertisements. "Till about a couple of years ago, almost all buildings in the Cyber City area had wall wrap advertisements on them. There was an issue over the rate for such advertisements, for which we discontinued them, though it helped us earn a lot of revenue. We are looking to formulate a policy and fix rates for such ads," said another official.
