The doctors at Apollo Hospitals Nellore successfully performed endovascular surgery on a 68-year-old patient from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, here on Thursday.
Senji, who suffered from chronic symptoms such as inability to take food, respiratory troubles and less heart beat rate, admitted in the hospital. The doctors found that due to excessive smoking, swellings formed in the walls of blood vessels which brought pressure on the surrounding tissues.
Because of this, the patient not able to take food and became weak. His heart functioning also weakened over the years.
Briefing the media about the critical operation conducted on the patient, Senior cardiovascular surgeon G.V. Ramana Kumar and cardiologist Amarnath said that once the swellings were removed, the blood supply became normal and it helped in speedy recovery from heart problem.
