ICCW’s National Painting Competition to be held on July 28

The Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW), Vellore district branch, would be conducting the district level National Painting Competition 2015 at the P. Dhandapani Mudaliar Thirumana Mandapam here from 9.30 a.m. on July 28.

Sarada Ramanathan, Joint Secretary of the project said in a release that the competition was being held for two categories, i.e., normal children and differently-abled children. There are three groups in the normal category, i.e., Green Group (5-8 years), White Group (9-12 years) and Blue Group (13-16 years), and two groups in the differently-abled category, viz., Yellow Group (5-10 years) and Red Group (11-18 years). The differently-abled category would have the following subgroups each in the Yellow and Red Groups: a) cerebral palsy/multiple disability; b) mentally challenged; c) visually impaired; d) speech/hearing-impaired.

Themes

The themes for the normal category are as follows:

Green Group: ‘My School’, ‘Rainbow’, ‘My Favourite Festival’ and ‘Draw Whatever You Want’; White Group: ‘Road Safety’, ‘My Classroom’, ‘Nature’ and ‘Save Earth’; Blue Group: ‘Global Warming’, ‘My Country’, ‘Natural Disaster’ and ‘Save Environment.’

The themes for the differently-abled category include ‘My Best Friend’, ‘Sunrise’, ‘Mother and Child’, ‘My Parents’, ‘Holiday Trip’, ‘My Pet’, ‘My Favourite Person’, ‘A Birthday Party’, ‘World from My Eyes’, ‘My Dreams’, ‘Seashore’, ‘Rainy Day’, ‘My Most Fascinating Imagination’ and ‘Draw Whatever You Want’.

The winning entries would be sent for the State-level competition, while the winning entries in the State-level competition would be sent to the National Level Competition. The winners would be eligible to receive monthly scholarship.

The paintings selected for the award at the national level will be eligible for a first prize of Rs. 5000, second prize of Rs. 3000 and third prize of Rs. 2000.
