BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A taskforce comprised of local, state and federal authorities that will investigate organized crime in the state’s oil patch now has a supervisor.

North Dakota Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Volk will oversee the Bakken Strike Force.

The Bismarck-based prosecutor will lead the team that will look into issues ranging from counterfeit and fraud operations to drug and human trafficking.

The Bismarck reports Tribune (https://bit.ly/1OAKUZG ) Volk will supervise about 50 agents working out of offices in Williston, Dickinson, Bismarck and Minot.

The Bakken Strike Force follows Project Safe Bakken, which in 2013 marked the beginning of coordination between Montana, North Dakota and the federal government in addressing rising crime in that region.
