Jammu, July 23

The Yuva Rajput Sabha today demanded that September 23, birthday of the last ruler of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh, should be declared a gazetted holiday.

Addressing a press conference here, Yuva Rajput Sabha president Surinder Singh said the organisation was fighting for the rights of the Rajput community living in Jammu and Kashmir and was committed to unite the youth under one banner.

He said the youth of Jammu was dejected by the policies of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which had “failed” to address the issues of common man.

Singh appealed to the MLAs from Jammu region to take up the issue of declaring September 23 as gazetted holiday in respect of the erstwhile Maharaja Hari Singh, who had brought many progressive laws in the state.
