Boxers meet weight limits ahead of 'fight for Mandela' event

It's game on: The four boxers who will be involved in the two IBO world championship fights at East London's ICC Hall tomorrow night were all within required weight limits at the official weigh-in. Lwandile Sityatha‚ who defends his junior bantamweight strap against Gideon Buthelezi‚ tipped the scale at 51‚55kg.Buthelezi‚ who once held the same belt‚ registered 51‚35kg. The limit is 52‚16kg.Ali Funeka‚ who will put his welterweight belt on the line against Tsiko Mulovhedzi‚ was 66‚40kg while the challenger‚ the current South African champion‚ came in slightly heavier at 66‚55kg. The limit is 66‚68kg.The weigh-in was conducted by both IBO fight supervisor Len Hunt and Boxing SA's East London manager Phakamile Jacobs.The tournament‚ a box and dine event to be staged by promoter Ayanda Matiti in celebration of the life of Nelson Mandela as an aspirant boxer‚ will be televised live on SABC 2 from 9.30pm.-RDM News Wire..
