Burglar willing to reform if wife agrees to live with him

Day after a four-member gang of burglars, in possession of valuables worth Rs 50 lakh, was busted by Habibganj police, cops on Wednesday said prime accused, during interrogation, said he was ready to earn his livelihood from a pushcart if his wife agreed to live with him.

BHOPAL: Day after a four-member gang of burglars, in possession of valuables worth Rs 50 lakh, was busted by Habibganj police, cops on Wednesday said prime accused, during interrogation, said he was ready to earn his livelihood from a pushcart if his wife agreed to live with him.
Gang members accepted to committing 40 burglaries in different areas in state capital in the past year.
Accused have been identified as Shailendra Vishwakarma, 33, (the kingpin), Vikas Singh, 28, Akram Khan, 27 and Praveen Pushkar, 21.
Other gang members, who are on the run, include Rupesh Dhakad, Hitesh Rathore and Jitendra Soni, the jeweller who purchased valuables from them.
A fact that came to light was Shailendra Vishwakarma's wife got close to Rupesh and wanted to stay with him. However, to coax her into staying with him, Vishwakarma began burgling houses to meet her demands. Vishwakarma told to police that he was ready to give up all unlawful activities if his wife agreed to stay with him.
He also got a truck and paid its installment by money he made from burglary, police said, adding that it is being recovered, besides an SUV used by gang members.
Accused committed burglaries in a number of areas in city. People whose houses were burgled in the past one year are now contacting the police to know whether those who burgled their houses have been traced.
