Sri Lanka have named as many as five uncapped youngsters in their squad for the upcoming two-match T20I series against Pakistan. Having already conceded the Test and the ODI series, the selection committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sought to introduce a younger crop of players in the T20 format as they look to begin a new era following the high-profile retirements of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.

Jeffrey Vandersay, Binura Fernando, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya de Silva and Shehan Jayasuriya were the five uncapped players picked in a squad that also features experience in equal proportion in the form of skipper Lasith Malinga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera. Nuwan Kulasekara was recalled to the squad after being left out of the ODI series while former captain Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne were left out.
