Jackky Bhagnani committed a major faux pas last year, thanks to autocorrect with regard to Pakistani social activist Malala Yousafzai.
In 2014, the ‘Younistaan’ actor took to Twitter to congratulate Malala on winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Unfortunately, Jackky posted her name as ‘Masala’ instead of Malala. Though Jackky later deleted his tweet, the damage was already done. The post went viral with many of the Twitterati poking fun at the typo.
Bhagnani later rectified his mistake, but still felt responsible for making light of the whole issue and reducing the importance of the young girl’s achievement. He deeply respects Malala and considers her to me a major Girl Empowerment icon.
Last week as Malala turned 18 on July 12, Jackky finally found a way to make it up to Malala. He shot a heartfelt video titled, ‘Happy Birthday Malala | Ye Malala Ke Baare Mein Hai, masala ke baare mein nahi!’, as part of her birthday tribute, wherein he is featured accepting his mistake and teaching little children about Malala’s contribution to education. Jackky is also depicted explaining the difference between the words ‘nobel’ and noble’.
Jackky shared the video on his Twitter page, which later received an over whelming response.
2 days before she turns 18, my tribute that ‘spells’ out why we need more brave hearts like Malala! (Sans typos!) http://t.co/f4FUpk8CPL

But, it didn’t end there as somebody from Malala’s team came across the tribute and brought it to her notice. She was incredible touched and connected with Jackky, saying that she loved the video and had watched it close to 50 times. Bhagnani also spoke to Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai.
Surreal! Just had the most inspirational conversation with Malala Yousafzai & @ZiauddinY .Thank you for the warmth and loving words.Humbled! — Jackky Bhagnani (@jackkybhagnani) July 19, 2015
Malala and Jackky exchanged contact details and apparently the actor will be making a trip to London to meet the young brave heart.
