It's a busy time at Rashesh Shah's home. The chairman and CEO of Edelweiss Group and wife Vidya Shah, CEO, Edelgive Foundation, are tied up with their 14-year-old daughter Avanti's arangetram. The young Shah will be debuting on stage with a Bharatnatyam performance at the NCPA on August 2.

Avanti has been learning the dance form for eight years under the tutelage of Nandhini Ashok of Shree Paavitra Art s Academy. For her arangetram, she has chosen the five elements of nature to interpret. Vidya says, "We are very excited. Avanti has been pretty much at it. Despite studies, she has continued to practice for the last one year. In fact, during these two-month vacations, she has been practising for eight hours a day." Since each element represents a colour, "we have run riot with colours. We also used the arangetram as an excuse to fly to Chennai," adds Vidya. The mother and daughter shopped for traditional temple jewellery and Kanjivaram sarees.

As for the guest list, the Shahs have kept it small — 120 guests — including family and friends who attended their silver wedding anniversary in February.
