    Laced with the mesmeric beauty of the Nilgiri Mountain Range, Yercaud is a less crowded hill station in South India. Situated at 4,970 ft above sea level, the town gets its name owing to the abundance of trees categorised as a forest near the lake, the name signifying Lake Forest. Yercaud is also called ‘Jewel of the South’. Coffee and citrus fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance, as well as bananas, pears and jackfruit. The region’s heavenly beauty, pleasant climate, exquisite range of flora and fauna and myriad list of offerings is slowly gaining popularity with tourists.

    Trekking: Adventure junkies explore the Kiliyur Falls, which is situated approx 3.2 km from the lake. This easy three kms trek is easy and can be done by anyone. The surplus water from the Yercaud Lake and other points of the Shevaroy Hills fall deep into the Kiliyur Valley, creating a 300 ft waterfall.
