Action plan to provide relief from traffic jams at Manyata tech park
The traffic police have rolled out a new initiative to ease traffic congestion during peak hours around Manyata Embassy Business Park located off Outer Ring Road between Hebbal and Nagawara. With 60,000 employees working at the park and a bustling neighbourhood traffic in the area has become a headache for road users.

With repeated grievances from commuters of the road, additional commissioner of police (traffic) MA Saleem visited the spot on Wednesday and chalked out an action plan to ease the traffic after studying the situation for almost three hours.
The additional commissioner and his men found three problems on the ORR; one being stopping of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses haphazardly on the road to drop and pick up passengers and employees of the tech firms in the park, the second is traffic congestion at Nagawara and Hebbal flyovers, and finally the U-turn at the Veeranpalya junction.

“To provide relief from all of this, we are going to make a few changes from today (Thursday) on an experimental basis,” Saleem said.
“To provide relief to commuters, we want to reduce at least 30 per cent of the traffic congestion on this stretch of ORR. We have observed that the traffic flow halts at Nagawara flyover for a long time as buses of private firms, BMTC, KSRTC and private busses stop on the road near the flyover to pick up and drop passengers. We will shift the bus stop to the service road. That way, vehicles moving from Hebbal towards KR Puram will get a relief.
“After we visited the spot is that during peak hours the flow towards Nagawara is more near the flyover and at present vehicles are allowed on only one lane. From today (Thursday) we will provide two lanes for motorists.
“Similar problems exist at the Hebbal flyover. Vehicles moving towards Tumkur Road, city and Yelahanka come together and halt below the flyover causing problem to motorists heading in all directions. Vehicles moving towards Tumkur Road will not be stopped at the junction, so motorists moving towards the city and Yelahanka will get relief. The U-turn at Veeranpalya junction is leading to a major traffic jam with the traffic here moving bumper to bumper. We will shift the U-turn 50 meters ahead of the junction. This will provide relief to vehicles heading to the Manyata Embassy Business Park. A skywalk at Manyata for which permission has been granted will smoothen the traffic flow to a large extent,” Saleem added.
