The annual Khadi Onam Fair under the Kozhikode Sarvodaya Sangham will begin at the Khadi Gramodyog Emborium on the SM Street in the city on Thursday.
All Khadi products will be sold at a reduction of 30 per cent on price as sanctioned by the government at the fair. A wide array of products including garments, cosmetics, handicrafts and furniture from different parts of the country will be featured at the fair, for which elaborate arrangements have been made at the emporium, said the Sangham members at a press conference here on Wednesday.
A large collection of Khadi items of clothing and products from village industries, besides jute silks from West Bengal and Orissa will be some of the main attractions, said N. Krishnakumar, secretary of the Kozhikode Sarvodaya Sangham. Attractive wooden handicrafts, Kalamkaari readymade garments with natural colours and a variety of organic cosmetics and medicinal products will also draw buyers to the fair.
Earthen potteries, vegetable seeds, kitchen wears, Gandhian publications, leather products and value-added fruit products among others will be available at the fair.
Different prizes such as scooter, gold coins and smart phones also await the customers at the fair, which will be inaugurated by Mayor A.K. Premajam at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The fair will end on August 17.
