2 die, 11 injured in road accidents

SRINAGAR, July 22: Two persons were killed while eleven others injured in various mishaps across the Valley, police said today.
A police spokesman said that a truck bearing registration number JK04B/4080 driven by Ashiq Ahmad Ganie hit and injured a motorcycle at Hyderpora area along Byepass in city outskirts here, resulting in injuries to motorcyclist Sajad Ahmad and on spot death of pillion mate, Tasleema Bano, hailing from Nowpora Litter village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“After completing medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites,” the spokesman said, adding a case has been registered in this regard. The injured motorcyclist was shifted to JVC Hospital for treatment.
In Kulgam district, , a Mahidra 407 vehicle bearing registration number JK18/9886 driven by Rameez Ahmed hit a motorcycle bearing chassis number 54685 at Awagam, resulting in injuries to three persons.
Police said that all the injured were shifted to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment, where one among them, Junaid Bhat, succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered in this regard.
In another accident, an Alto car driven by Javiad Ahmed Khan hit and injured a pedestrian Mohammad Maqbool Mir at Gulgam in border district of Kupwara. “The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” the police spokesman said.
In Bandipora, an Innova vehicle bearing registration number PB31-F0110 driven by Harvender Singh of Punjab hit a minor boy identified as Irshad Ahmad Guroo at Wangipora area of Sumbal in the district, police said. “The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” the police spokesman said.
A Santro car bearing registration number JK01M/4227 and a Tata sumo bearing registration JK09/0931 collided at Lawaypora in the outskirts of city here, resulting in injuries to Tanvir Ahmed Khan. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment. A case has been registered in this regard, police said.
In Baramulla, a Truck bearing registration number RG31G/5725 driven by Harjeet Singh of Haryana collided with a Sumo bearing registration number JK05D/0141 at Sheeri, resulting in injuries to five persons. “All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” the police spokesman added.
