Sonu Sood as Dara Singh in the wrestler's biopic?

If sources are to be believed, Sonu Sood has been asked to play the role of Dara Singh in the wrestler's biopic. The film is to go on floors by the end of 2015.

Sonu Sood has been active not just in Bollywood films, but also in the south. The actor has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films, too. And now, a Punjab-based filmmaker, who has written a script on the life of late Dara Singh, has approached Sonu to play the lead role in the wrestler's biopic.

Wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh passed away in 2012. One of the most exciting fights in the history of wrestling is to Singh's credit. He had lifted the almost-200kg King Kong of Australia over his head and twirled him around. Dara Singh was seen in films like Dillagi, Ajooba and Kal Ho Naa Ho.

If sources are to be believed, Sonu has been asked to play the role of Dara Singh last week, and the film will go on floors by the end of 2015. A source revealed, "Sonu seems interested in the project and has assured the makers that he will read the script and get back to them at the earliest. He needs to be convinced with the script first, after which he will take the final call."

Sonu confirmed the rumours and said, "Yes, I was recently approached with the idea of a biopic on Dara Singh. I will read the script, and take the final call."

Sonu Sood was last seen in 2014 film Happy New Year, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
