Telangana RTC buses diverted for Pushkaralu

An estimated 4 lakh students depend on RTC buses to reach colleges

Hyderabad: Around 400 city buses have been diverted to cater to the Godavari Pushkaralu pilgrim rush, resulting in 2,000 services being affected. The RTC operates 3,600 buses in Hyderabad and the Ranga Reddy region.

The reduction of services has affected students, office staff and even domestic workers. “The frequency of buses towards Medchal is already low and now it has gone down further. Two days back, we had to wait for for over three hours for a bus in the afternoon,” said Poojitha, a student of CMR Engineering College.

An estimated 4 lakh students depend on RTC buses to reach colleges in the city’s peripheral areas. There are four to five lakh commuters traveling to and areas like Moinabad to Cheverla, beyond Kukatpally, Medchal, Pattancheru, Mehdipatnam to Moinabad.
