GURGAON: Having failed to arrest the shooters a week after the attack on gangster Rakesh Hayatpur, a red-faced Gurgaon Police held a review meeting on Tuesday. Sources told TOI that the involvement of two more persons in the case has come to fore during the probe.
In the meeting, chaired by DCP (crime) Ved Prakash Godara, all the police teams involved in the probe have been asked to work together to nab the accused at the earliest.
Cops are also said to have discussed various plans to nab the shooters.
"Our motto is the same and we have to work together, share whatever we get to know and also make suggestions as it is very important to solve the case," the DCP (crime) said, after the meeting that was also attended by Deepak Saharan, DCP (east), inspector Yashwant, in-charge of crime unit-I, Pradyuman Singh, in-charge of crime unit-4, and inspector Ashok Kumar, SHO of Sector 29 police station.
Meanwhile, sources said the police have also come to know about the involvement of two more persons in the case. Though some suspects have been detained for questioning by the crime unit, none has been formally arrested, sources said.
TOI has already identified five suspects in the case gangster Sandeep alias Dabbu, who is in Bhondsi jail and is believed to have hatched the plot to eliminate Rakesh; his maternal uncle Narender, the main accused in the case who had an old enmity with Rakesh over a property dispute; Kapil, who was arrested for possession of illegal arms a day before the shooting; a man called Harender; and Bishambar, accused of arranging the arms for the attack.

Except for Dabbu and Kapil — who are in jail custody and have been questioned by cops in connection with the case — the three other accused are all absconding. Police are now trying to get Dabbu in their custody on production warrant to interrogate him again, sources said.
Hayatpur was attacked on MG Road on July 15 as soon he came out of Beverly Park I in his SUV.
