Boy with knife was lurking in her auto
I t was her presence of mind which saved a techie not just her valuables but perhaps also her life near Jayadeva circle flyover. The victim, Neha Agarwal (in pic), had hired an auto rickshaw on Monday evening to go towards BTM Layout on Bannerghatta Road.

As they were travelling along the underpass, she realised that there was someone of slight built crouching in the rear, in the space behind the backseat of the auto, holding something in his hand!

Light from the headlights of oncoming vehicles confirmed this, and the victim was petrified. Not wanting to make any sudden movement, the systems engineer with IBM waited for the slow-moving traffic in front of Gopalan Mall due to the rain and to jumped out.of the auto. Though hit by an oncoming car at a slow speed, she was unhurt.
A traffic policeman who witnessed the commotion ran towards her and she pointed out the auto to him that was still stuck in traffic. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the cop found a young boy holding a knife hiding in the space behind the backseat of the auto. The driver and boy were immediately detained and the traffic policeman informed his civil counterparts, who arrested the duo.
The cops hailed another auto for the shaken victim and checked it completely before she got inside and headed home.
