I feel happy to make my audiences smile: Ami Trivedi

"Making it to TV wasn’t too easy. Infact, I have seen so many rejections at auditions that I had stopped believing about the casting process. And, though I have done my share of saas-bahu saga, where I’ve played the vamp — people recognize me in my comic turns only," says Ami.
I feel happy to make my audiences smile: Ami Trivedi
One look at Ami Trivedi and a smile comes on your face remembering her for her numerous comic roles and strong Gujarati theatre performances. This girl who has a strong Ahmedabad connect as it is her hometown was in the city to promote her show Tedi Medi Family and an NGO activity. Excerpts from a quick chat with this actress over a cuppa:
THE AMDAVADI ME
I have spent almost close to a month for theatre performances here and not only that, I have many relatives here.
I love to shop at Law Garden and made it a point to gorge on yummy sandwiches at a popular fast-food restaurant close to that.

THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE
I was 15 when I started doing Gujarati theatre. I have worked with veterans like Siddharth Randeria, Sanjay Goradia, Apara Mehta, Neeraj Vora, Tiku Talsania, Manoj Joshi. Working with them has been an enriching experience and made me improvise my skills as an actor.
TV TALK
Making it to TV wasn’t too easy. Infact, I have seen so many rejections at auditions that I had stopped believing about the casting process. And, though I have done my share of saas-bahu saga, where I’ve played the vamp — people recognize me in my comic turns only. Now, I am not offered serious roles any more— thanks to the popularity of my comedy shows. In fact, in Adaalat I played the role of a lawyer recently, that’s my first serious role — which I enjoyed doing. I feel happy doing comedy roles as I am able to bring smiles on audiences’ faces, but given a chance, I would love to do a saas-bahu soap as well because those are best-sellers on Indian television.

AMI OFF-CAM
I am a very simple person off camera. My entire world revolves around my two-year old son Ayaansh. It’s lovely to see him growing up. I have ensured that I take care of him on my own without anyone else’s help. Even my husband is supportive and hasn’t changed at all since our courtship days.
